Information for Current Members | Social Groups
One of the primary purposes of the RPCVs of WI-Madison is to provide a social network for Returned Volunteers in the Madison area. Social events are open to all RPCVs and their friends, whether or not they choose to become official members. Some of our social events include monthly ethnic dinners, Friday socials at the UW Memorial Union, fall picnic, holiday party, summer camping, and a book club.
2011 Events Calendar
Ethnic Dinners: Thanks to Tom Brodd there is a monthly opportunity to try out one of Madison's wonderful restaurants. Past selections have included Buraka, Luna's, Dohba, The Casbah, Sai-ba Thong, and many more. You can find upcoming dinners posted on our Yahoo! Group's calendar, and in messages on the listserv. If you are interested in a particular restaurant, talk to Tom about getting it on the list.
Annual Holiday Party: Everyone is invited to our Annual Holiday Party in December. Bring a dish to share and a White Elephant Gift to exchange, plus your significant others, children, and friends to celebrate the holidays with fellow RPCVs. This event is held at a member's home in early December.
Annual Fall Picnic: Membership is up for renewal in September and we've added the joy of a fall picnic to bring us all together. Bring a dish to share, your Peace Corps stories, and any thoughts you have about what you would like to see our organization do in the coming year. This event takes place on a Sunday afternoon in September at Tenney Park.
Summer Camping: Each June we reserve some camping spots at a nearby park for a weekend of outdoor enjoyment. Bring your camping gear and food and recreation equipment to share. It's a great opportunity to do some hiking, swim and go boating or canoeing. As always, friends and family members are welcome.
Book Club: The RPCV-WI Madison Book Club meets the fourth Saturday of every month at 2PM.
